Since its founding in 1960, the National Youth Orchestra of Canada has proudly represented our nation abroad. Their youthful vigor and extensive training have allowed them to perform at the highest caliber of any professional orchestra in the nation. We think that Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2 portrays both the harshness and bleak beauty of the Canadian Shield and the scenery of his own Finland. We have no doubt that this moving piece will inspire you just as much as it has us.
